What does a County Commissioner do?
The most important job a county commission has is to manage the budget! The Anoka County Budget is over one quarter of a billion dollars! At peak seasons; such as the summer when additional staff are hired in the Parks Division, there are over 1,800 employees. For the vast majority of property owners, the county portion of your property tax statement is near 30% of your bill.
There are seven county commissioners who oversee and manage the budget, set policy, and hire an Administrator to manage the day to day operations of the county.
